Fashion Village on a Wet Night

Wednesday night’s shindig (nice word … mmm …) for Vanessa Traina and her Maje collaboration was relaxed and fun. I didn’t need to go to the hairdresser, after all. It started on the seventh floor of Barneys monster beats dre headphones, with a D.J., and the arrivals of Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, in a great-looking fur jacket, though I liked the look of Ashley’s broad-shoulder beige coat over a long black Row dress; then the designers Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. People were talking about Elizabeth Taylor, Carine Roitfeld’s appointment as a guest editor/stylist for Barneys and places they had recently been (other than fashion shows), and eyeing a Maje blazer with satin lapels, as if to say, “Should I or shouldn’t I?” Ms. Traina, whose sisters Victoria and Samantha also attended, had on a blazer and skinny pants, with a cutaway Balenciaga top that draped in the front. Dinner was down the slushy street, at Caprice.
